"It was if you had this little light deep inside {pointing to her chest} and he made it grow and grow until it just exploded all over the place. I loved him and the kids did too."- Marie Marshall, Language Arts Program Director, Fort Walton Beach, Florida
SONG AND VERSE
Using a blend of stories, music, and poetry from Shakespeare to Shange, Logie weaves an interactive and electrifying performance that delights both students and teachers. In this process, teachers and students often become a part of the presentation, allowing a degree of audience ownership not often found in school performances. At middle and high school levels, students are often recruited at the beginning of Logie's presentation to demonstrate their abilities with "Song and Verse" for their classmates.
(K-3) Program features the use of age appropriate folk stories and tales in conjunction with poetry and music that involves students and teachers in an informative and interactive literary experience. (30-45 mins)
(4-6) Students at this level get even more ownership of the program. The basic format remains the same with music and literature: but at this age the "stars" are discovered amongst the students. (45 mins)
(7-12) Still looking for stars, the program uses poetry, music and stories with a contemporary appeal. Issues that young adults find interesting are dealt with in an entertaining and exciting format. (45-60 mins)
"Rarely, and I sincerely mean rarely, have I ever witnessed eight graders succumb to the magic of a guest such as our students did for you."- 8th Generation Team, Wiley Middle School,
